Today my special guest is Amazon bestselling author Vincent Zandri. Normally, Vincent writes noir thriller novels, but he’s entered the romance realm with his novella Love at First Sight. It’s the prequel to his next full-length novel, Precious. Let’s learn a bit about the man behind the novel.
Tell us about yourself.
I’m a father of three, two boys and a little girl, world traveler, journalist, noir novelist. Recently I decided to quit the college lifestyle and move out of the apartment I share with my sons, 21 and 18, into a penthouse in Albany. The reason I’m able to do all that is my resurrected career, starting out going indie with my backlist and then most recently signing an 8 book deal with Thomas and Mercer.
What has been your biggest mistake as an author?
Ha! When the whole social media thing took off I was really bad about the constant updates about buy my book, buy my book. Luckily, people were patient.
Did you always want to be a writer?
Absolutely. Even when my family and career fell apart, I still wanted to be a writer. It just moved to mainly journalist type stuff.
To your knowledge, have you ever been a victim of e-piracy? If so, how did you handle the situation?
Actually, I think I have. But I don’t really have to worry too much about it. Between the bull dogs at Stonehouse Ink and my sassy publicist Bri Clark, they usually tell me after they’ve gone through the correct channels and taken care of it.
What do you do for fun?
After a long day of editing, writing, and promoting I like to go down to the local pub or watering hole and put back a cold one.
Tell us about Love at First Sight.
A young U.S. Army officer who’s served in Afghanistan finds himself suffering from intermittent bouts of “hysterical” temporary blindness due to impossible and deadly orders he was forced to obey by high command in the field. When he’s reunited with his fiancée in a military hospital in Germany after being separated for more than a year, the couple are encouraged by doctors to travel to Venice, Italy together. There, amongst the canals and the cafes, they try to rekindle their love and fight off their personal demons while trying to comprehend the enormity of the heartbreaking role they now must play in love and war.
