In celebration of Black History Month, I’m participating in the Black History Blog Hop and highlighting black authors this week. The first three authors are guests who will tell you about their books and offer some goodies in appreciation of your participation in this weeklong event.
My first guest is romance author W. Lynn Chantale, and she’s here to tell us all about her romance novels. Let’s get started!
Tell us about yourself.
Hi Delaney, thanks so much for hosting me today. I’m married and have three boys…er young men. I wanted to be a pastry chef so I went to school for that and somehow ended up with an accounting degree. Go figure. 🙂 Also I enjoy playing the bass guitar, reading and knitting when I need a break from writing.
What is the most romantic gesture you’ve ever received?
This is hard for me, because my husband is the perfect guy for romance and it’s hard to pick just one. He’s re-proposed (complete with ring), but I think one that really touched my heart was when he presented me with a pearl ring for our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago. He remembered me wearing my great-grandmother’s pearl ring in high school. *sigh* Yeah, he’s that type of guy.
Do you have a single book or character that’s dear to your heart, and why?
I have a character who has not yet been published. Her name is Trisha. I put a lot of my characteristics in her, gave her free rein to do whatever she likes and it has been a lot of fun telling her story.
On your road to megastardom, what types of interesting or odd jobs have you held?
I can see that blinking neon sign just across the poppy fields. I hope the flowers aren’t laced with a sleeping agent. Some of my more interesting jobs (I think) have been a cake decorator, bank teller, call center rep and a fast food manager.
How long have you been writing?
It’s been a long, long time. I think over thirty years. Don’t get too excited, that only means I’ve been writing since the third grade. 🙂
When is your favorite time of the day to make love?
The middle of the night, middle of the day, first thing in the morning…
What are your pet peeves?
Chairs that are not pushed in, doors left ajar and shoes left in the middle of the floor.
What type of music do you listen to?
I enjoy R&B, hip-hop, blues, jazz, gospel, rock and a few select groups from a couple of other genres.
What are your favorite types of movies to watch?
I love action, thriller and drama flicks. Did you think I was going to say romance? Nope! Not willingly at least. Although there are three romantic movies I adore. An American President, The Wedding Singer, and 50 First Dates.
Which TV show(s) can you absolutely not miss every week?
Grimm and Once Upon a Time. Have I mentioned how much the evil queen MUST die? Oh yeah, I’ve envisioned her death so many ways and none of it has been quick and easy. Don’t you dare feel sorry for her either, she made a conscious decision to be mean and evil. She could’ve stopped at anytime…huh? It’s just a character? *inhales deeply and smooths down shirt* Sorry. Maybe I should pick a different show? How about Doctor Who and Leverage? I love time travel and Doctor Who has fought some of the BEST villains with only a sonic screwdriver. He’s held off Weeping Angels, The Master, Daleks…*sighs* He’s so cool. And I just love a team of thieves coming together to defend the little guy. Age of the Geek baby.
Methinks someone gets really vested in their TV shows every week. Lol. Okay, so tell us about the two books you’re promoting today and where we can buy them.
The first one is Decadent Seconds.
As a caterer, Darling gets to witness some of life’s happiest moments, but yearns for a marriage proposal of her own. After years of waiting on her beloved to pop the question, she gives up on ever having a happy ending of her own and severs the relationship. When she learns she’s pregnant, she has no choice but to face her child’s father on a daily basis as well as the love and attraction she has for him.
Darryl Manning always believed Darling would be his forever. After all he didn’t need a piece of paper to show her how much he loved her, but when she leaves him to pursue her dream of owning a catering company and raising his son, he may have to rethink his views on marriage. That is if he wants a second chance at family.
The second is The Designer’s Bride in the Valentine Delights Kiss Me Anthology.
Jordan has planned the perfect wedding, only one catch, the bride hasn’t said yes.
For cosmetics heiress Elisabeth Bach, finding the right man hasn’t been easy, especially when her father is bent on arranging her love life for his own twisted purposes. When she falls for fashion designer Jordan Carlisle, she knows she’s met The One, and she’ll do anything to keep their relationship secret from her father’s schemes.
Jordan Carlisle has been waiting a long time for a chance to date Elisabeth and he’s determined to make her his wife. Will a Valentine’s Day proposal be enough to keep her or will his checkered past destroy his future?
